As Days go By

Since the electoral college has spoken and BHO is still our president I look towards the next four years.  Here and now I do have some concerns mainly because BHO will not be worrying about reelection this time around.  What does this mean for future policy?  I couldn't say for sure.  However, if things that he has said in the past or his past associations with radicals come into play it could mean that the American people just opened the gates to redistribution and a loss of freedoms.  I pray that this is not the case and I pray that the checks and balances that our fore bearers constructed hold strong (this is unlikely in the judicial branch since BHO has the opportunity to appoint two new judges) in the event that the worst does come to pass.

Many people were surprised that BHO was elected for a second term.  To them I say look at history.  The last time our country went through such a had time was the great depression and look who was president not for just two terms but for four (even though he died shortly into his fourth term).  FDR.  Mr. New Deal who keep the country limping along instead of trying to actually fix things.  Here is what we are in store for the next four years.  Policies that have no common sense and give people no motivation for getting out there to work or create jobs for American citizens here in the USA.  Once again I keep praying that no of this is true but since history repeats itself I can't imagine seeing anything else.

On another note I would very much like to know what happened in Benghazi on September 11.  I don't think that we will get the full truth since all the reports keep changing but as someone who cares deeply about our troops I would just like a straight forward answer.  No more of this political meandering and hemming and hawing.  Just tell the American people who knew what and why there was so much "confusion" about what was going on that night.  Four Americans are dead and we all deserve to know why, aside from the obvious terrorism aspect.

Now as I write all this I want people to know that I will respect the office of President and support him the best I can.  This does not mean that I will agree with him but that I will pray and hope that he has the best interest of America, the greatest country on this planet, at heart.

The Song of the Week May 21

So I have decided to start doing a song of the week and here is the first one.  A better version of the Coldplay song paradise by the piano guys.

Making Missouri Even better looking

Apparently there is a ski resort near Kansas City.  I'm good with that.  I might need something to remind me of California every once in a while

Rudyard Kipling “If”

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

Another One for Romney

After looking up more about Mitt Romney, I read in the news that the crazy conservative Ted Nugent is one of his supporters.  For those of you who don't really know anything about Ted...well let's put it this way, he makes me look like a tree hugging hippie.  Anyway I can't really see why he is backing Romney other than he is no fool since most people say that Romney has the best chance of defeating the current administration this coming November.  For all of our sake I hope that Ted Nugent and Paul Ryan are right.  Funny, I never thought those two would be used in the same sentence...huh.

One work week with the new car

So the wife and I ended up getting a brand spanking new 2012 Honda Civic. It only had 5 miles on it when we drove it off the lot. For this last week it has been my work car and I must say that I enjoy it quite a bit. It has more features on the standard model than my first cell phone. Needless to say I do think it is worth the brand new headache of a new car payment

The Next Step in Life

It appears that my wonderful wife and I will be moving to Joplin, MO in the coming months.  While we are both very excited about this we both can't help but think if this is the right choice for us.  It is the option that feels the best when asked about and it is the best thing at the moment.  With all this assurance though we still have the ever common apprehension about moving on into the unknown.  We both like to control what is happening and this is the first real time that both of us will have to let go and travel on faith.  So here's to hoping it works out and that this worrying is a bunch of nothingness.

More Adventures in Shaving

So I figured after a few days it was time to try going for 2 passes with my straight razor, with the grain and against.  I did pretty well.  A little irritated on the skin today but other than that not too bad.

Time for a change.

http://instagr.am/p/JBM-REnh9D/

So I had my first shave with a straight razor this evening. Just a few thoughts.
1) Right side of the face was a piece of cake. Closest shave ever. Left side not so much. I cut my self a little and I was a bit jumpy on the razor however I know I will get better.

2)If your gets even a bit dry you're in trouble. My neck, chin and upper lip where a little dry and it was more difficult than my face region. So wet keeps it good.

That's all I have to say about that

Waiting and Passing Time

In anticipation of receiving my straight razor stuff tomorrow I picked up the Gillette Thermal Face scrub for my "pre-shave" step that I have read so much about in the shaving forums.  Let me tell you..it works.  I got a closer shave with this stuff than I did with out it.  It really lifts and softens the facial hair so as to give you a closer shave.  I'll let everyone know how my first straight razor shave goes tomorrow after the equipment arrives.

PS I know I am a weirdo for having the highlight purchase of the last 6 months be a straight razor but remember you choose to read this so deal.

Ryan Endorses Romney

I have been a huge critic of Mitt Romney in this GOP primary.  It seems for every point of order my family (mainly my mother) came up that supported Romney I was the only person to push it back by pointing to his inconsistent voting record or his flip flopping  on important issues such as gun control and the like.  Now it seems like the man who I would have liked to see in this primary, House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan, has backed the wish-wash politician.  This doesn't change my mind on Mitt just yet.  I will however be revisiting his voting record and possibly giving him a second chance.  Let's hope there is some point that I missed so I might find a candidate that I actually can get behind.

Dr Who?

So my sister got me hooked on Dr. Who.  I know what a lot of people are thinking that it is just a weird show and you know what you would be right right!  But it is so cool!  Likable characters and a built in dues ex machina?  What's not to like?
